ASSOCATION OF NOVA SCOTIA UNIVERSITY TEACHERS (ANSUT)
The Association of Nova Scotia University Teachers (ANSUT) advocates for the quality, affordability, and accessibility of a Post-Secondary education; it believes that these educational values are a right, not a privilege; and it represents its members in maintaining and improving the autonomy and diversity of their individual institutions to those ends.
CANADIAN ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY TEACHERS (CAUT)
As the national voice of 68,000 academic and general staff at more than 120 universities and colleges across Canada, CAUT lobbies governments, provides collective bargaining and legal support, and actively advances the social and economic interests of its members. In addition, CAUT offers courses, workshops and conferences, investigates threats to academic freedom, undertakes extensive research, publishes reports, newsletters, books and a monthly newspaper, liaises with Canada’s media, and works in national and international academic coalitions. They work to safeguard the freedom of our members to teach and conduct research unrestricted by commercial or other special interests, and perhaps most importantly, CAUT works for collegial institutional governance that is publicly accountable.
NATIONAL UNION OF THE CANADIAN ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY TEACHERS (NUCAUT)
The National Union of the Canadian Association of University Teachers (NUCAUT) is the national union of Canada’s post-secondary academic staff. It promotes within the Canadian Labour Congress the interests of academic staff and seeks to improve the quality and accessibility of post-secondary education in Canada. NUCAUT is committed to the promotion of equity and opposes harassment and discrimination of any sort. NUCAUT contributes to building and unifying the labour movement by working with labour councils, provincial federations of labour and other national unions.
NOVA SCOTIA FEDERATION OF LABOUR (NSFL)
A provincial umbrella labour organization committed to the principle of advancing the social and economic well-being of workers in Nova Scotia. The NSFL works to secure legislative change which safeguard and promote the principles of free collective bargaining, the rights of workers, human rights and the security and welfare of all people.
