(a) An Instructor on a probationary appointment shall be reviewed by their Academic Unit by 31 October of the final year of the appointment. Instructors who have been placed on pregnancy leave, sick leave for a
period of at least twenty-five (25) consecutive weeks, or family leave for a period of at least twenty-five (25) consecutive weeks according to the appropriate procedures in Article 24 during their probationary
appointment shall be granted a twelve (12) month extension. The extension must be requested by 15 July of the final year of appointment (Article 12.02).
